We opened the doors to our brand new school on September 8, 2009! 
 

Sage Elementary School is located in Rock Springs, Wyoming.  Rock Springs is a city located in Wyoming. With a 2020 population of 22,272, it is the 5th largest city in Wyoming (after CheyenneCasperLaramie, and Gillette) and the 1694th largest city in the United States. Rock Springs is currently has a recorded a population of 23,036 in 2010. Rock Springs reached it's highest population of 24,089 in 2013. Spanning over 19 miles, Rock Springs has a population density of 1,149 people per square mile.

The average household income in Rock Springs is $85,293 with a poverty rate of 10.98%. The median rental costs in recent years comes to $883 per month, and the median house value is $217,400. The median age in Rock Springs is 32.7 years, 32.8 years for males, and 32.5 years for females. For every 100 females there are 109.1 males.

Sage Elementary serving approximately 300 students in Kindergarten through 4th Grade. We operate on a traditional track calendar with a 4 day work week starting in 2020-2021.  93% are White students with .06% Native American. 14% of the students are English Language Learners. 27% of our students receive free/reduced price meals under the Federal School Lunch program. Sage operates as a Resource/Special Programs school serving 21% of students with disabilities.

The current faculty is made up of 51 faculty members, 15 general education teachers, two Special Education Teachers, and two Special Programs Teachers. The faculty includes a Psychologist, Counselor, Social Worker, Nurse, Speech and Language Teacher, Occupational Therapist, and Physical Therapist.

The school’s administration is composed of a Principal.
Parents and community members have many opportunities to be involved and participate in the decision making process through regularly scheduled Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). There are additional opportunities for parental involvement through the school volunteer program, parent education workshops that include math and literacy strategies, STEAM Nights, Tree of Sharing, and other programs. Sage boasts a strong relationship with the PTO through the sponsorship room parents for each classroom. 

Sage requires parents to attend two formal parent-teacher conferences where they receive face-to-face progress reports from the teacher and have the opportunity to review Language Arts assessment and mathematics periodic assessment data. Parents are encouraged to request conferences any time they see the need.

The main structure for governance at Sage Elementary is through the School Site Council.  Additional regular input is sought from the Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports PLC, AMP (Student Intervention) PLC, Safety PLC, Crisis PLC, and a number of other committees for other events.

Other significant instructional and intervention programs include Extended Year School for Special Education Students, RTI Intervention Program (locally designed), Intervention classes for struggling students. Sage has an Attendance Motivation Program to reward and acknowledge students for good attendance. We have also implemented a Schoolwide Discipline Program in order to improve student behavior. The Schoolwide Discipline Program includes the Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports which rewards students and/or classes that are exhibiting exemplary. Teachers collaboratively plan and provide differentiated instruction. We are using multiple common formative assessments including Acadience data.
